Our Mission:

To pull together skills and talents in biology, chemistry, physics and engineering to enable fundamental research that addresses the challenges in developing renewable energy with scope and complexity that would not be possible with the standard individual investigators or small research groups.

Who We Are

The Kansas Center for Solar Energy Research is an interdisciplinary team of 29 researchers from The University of Kansas, Wichita State University, and Kansas State University. Our researchers come from the fields of physics, engineering, chemistry, and biology.

What We Do

We investigate the utilization of solar energy in four themes; nanoscale energy capture and catalysis, solar electric energy conversion, conversion of biomass into biofuels, and holistic systems design.

Why We Do It

The world is quickly approaching the point where we demand more energy than we can produce. Before we reach that critical point, we must find ways to power our society in an environmentally friendly fashion.
